The Jews among others were a convenient scape goat for the politicians at the time to blame the peoples problems on. Scapegoating of this sort has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years to unite people in a common cause. the recipe only calls for the persecution of a group that holds itself apart in some way from the rest, Jews were a particularly convenient target as there were among them those with considerable wealth that could be looted as well as the many poor and powerless people that gave the ordinary man in the street something to play with. In the time of the Jewish persecution by the German regime it must be kept in mind that many other minority's were also persecuted ranging from gypsies to people with congenital abnormality's. Most people would never do anything to harm any of these people, however the treatment that is meted out to these so called so called is enough to strike fear into the hearts of every one. So they look away, letting their political masters do as they wish. Genocide like that of WW2 went on and is still going on in virtually every country in the world. We just don't hear too much about it because it seems that it is not as important if the victims are not Jewish.
