Today, I went for a walk around the old site of the power station. I went in where the cooling towers had been, and I have a few reasons why the towers dropped. The towers: without the correct maintenance they would have become unsafe, as I discovered myself, when the concrete just fell to bits as I walked over it. Also, there is an underground network of pipes there and, I'm sure, access tunnels; I had found evidence of this when I was a young kid. I don't think many people recognize this place; where the old buildings stand opposite the old towers, there's a concrete slab! Under the slab is a hole, leading into a large room, which is full of water. There are corridors leading away from this room. I'm trying to find old pictures and plans of the old site -- perhaps you can help! Aerial photos are what I'm really after. I'm concerned about vandalism at this site, and that people may feel the need to climb it as well. ---- Addendum: The link below indicates they have motion picture footage of the plant being built. FYI
