Mainly the Jewish authorities were furious that these 'unlettered and ordinary' men were continually and successfully preaching and teaching in the name of an enemy they THOUGHT they'd destroyed, and were jealous of the attention the disciples were getting for the miracles they were performing in the name of Jesus.(Acts 5:16-32,41-42)(Acts 4:11-31) The disciples were constantly 'in trouble' because they would not stop. No matter what happened, they continued to obey Jesus command to preach, teach and baptize new disciples .(Matthew 28:19+20)
Because the local authorities and scholars did not believe Jesus was really the Son of God. This meant they disapproved of any followers - as being heretics.
Yes. Jesus was Jewish. He was (is) the Jewish Messiah that modern followers of Judaism are still waiting for. In the first century, all of the first followers of Jesus were Jewish.
The followers of Jesus angered the local authorities in Jerusalem primarily due to their proclamation of Jesus as the Messiah and their teachings that challenged established religious norms and authority. Their growing influence and the belief that Jesus had risen from the dead threatened the social and political stability of the Jewish leadership and the Roman authorities. Additionally, their acts of healing and miracles attracted large crowds, which further alarmed the leaders who feared a potential uprising. This tension ultimately led to the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus, as well as the persecution of his followers.
Judas got nothing from the Romans. Judas betrayed Jesus to the Jewish authorities and they gave him 30 pieces of silver, not the Romans.Judas got nothing from the Romans. My reading is, they didn't. But the Jewish religious authorities did, and to avoid big trouble with his masters in Rome, Pilate took the easy option.
It was Jewish and so was Jesus and all of his followers back then
Most, but not all, were Jewish.
it was Jesus of Nazareth.
He said he was the King of all the Jews.
The Roman authorities saw Jesus as a potential threat to their power and authority, especially after he was hailed as the King of the Jews. They also yielded to pressure from Jewish religious leaders who viewed Jesus as a blasphemer. Jesus' teachings and growing popularity created unrest among the people that the authorities wanted to quell.
Jesus was not feared by the Romans. At the time that Jesus lived, the Romans, with the exception of perhaps one or two, did not even know who he was. It was a certain faction of the Jewish priests who feared Jesus and caused the trouble. They feared Jesus because he was thought to be preaching a false doctrine and seemed to be gathering followers.
There was a rush to bury Jesus because the authorities did not want his followers to take his body and claim he was resurrected. He was securely buried, but his body was nowhere to be found, nonetheless.
