Red is the recognised colour for danger.. like poisionous insects are usually red, and caution signs are usually red.. therefore it's stop
green is the most opposite colour to red.. therefore it's go
and orange/amber is kinda in between i spose..

is just a symbol to show you when to go on and when to stop. usually the sequence of traffic signal light is red--NO cross; Yellow --warning; Green --cross. The three colors appear in turns.
From top to bottom: Green is on the top Yellow is in the middle Red is on the bottom There you go!
When you say 'Light' you probably mean, 'White light'. White light, or just plain old light, say, from the Sun, is composed of light of all the different visible colors. Light can be separated out into all the colors that are in it by using a prism or by reflecting the light off of tiny water droplets in the sky (creating a rainbow). The weirdest way to split light into its colors that I have ever seen is caused by light bouncing back from the tiny glass balls that are spread on wet traffic-stripe paint. It is really strange to see "rainbows" on the street!
All objects absorb, reflect, and/or transmit light of specific colors. Generally, we cannot see absorbed light, but we can see reflected and transmitted light, and it is this selectivity of which colors are reflected or transmitted that give objects their color..A green sofa, for example, absorbs all colors exceptgreen, which it reflects. When white light strikes the sofa, only the green component of the white light reflects off the sofa, and so we observe that the sofa is green..Similarly, if we were to put a red filter over a traffic light, the filter will absorb all colors except red, and it will allow only red light to pass through the filter. So when that specific traffic light is energized, we see only red light..Some objects, such as glass and air, transmit all visible colors - that is, clear glass and air are transparent to all visible colors. We would categorize such items as colorless.
No not at all.

There's nothing really special here, it's simply the color of the light that enters our eyes is how we see the traffic light.
red, yellow,green
The Traffic Light Eating Plan follows the Food Guide Pyramid. Each food group can be split into groups based on the colors of the Traffic Light. There are GREEN foods, YELLOW foods, and RED foods.

Yes; Traffic lights change colour on average every three to five minutes. Just stand at any traffic junction!
Colors are USED to do many things- tell when a traffic light changes, when a fruit is ripe, etc. However, colors simply ARE- there is no specific purpose, other than a Divine purpose. But they are really handy.
Much thought went into the selection for the colors in Stop, Go, Caution lights, they however weren't for traffic lights, they were for the Railroad and devised by their engineers through a trial and error method, the glare of the sun played a large part in the final selection of colors. The life-saving ingenuity of the Railroad Engineers are responsible for the traffic light selection of colors.
