When an individual is upset they usually don't want to talk about it at that moment as they may say things they do not want to and ignoring you may seem that way during this time as they are really not but again upset. No this is not a form of abuse actually they are dealing with their feelings in a proper manner as opposed to yelling at you and arguing about whatever if was that made them upset.
