It's condensation formed from the water vapour the surrounding air.

The cold water absorbes the heat from the surrounding air, including the water in the air which then lacks the energy to remain as a gas and so forms a liquid droplet on the container.

In a salt water tank do you put water or sand first?

If you are premixing the salt in a large container outside the tank, then put the sand in first. If you are going to mix the water and salt in the tank, then put the water in and mix it first, and then when its mixed put in the (rinsed!) sand. It will fog up, but that will go away.

Will water condense on a surface that is warmer or cooler than the air?

Matt incorrectly noted: "Condensation occurs when air is cooled. If there was an object with both a hot and a cold side, condensation would form on the cold side."IT'S THE HOT SIDE.When dealing with water trapped in air (i.e. humidity), the hot air will lose it's moisture at a certain temperature (dew point). Since the water molecules are trapped in the hot air, water will condense (or assimilate) on the hot side of the material. To test this, take a hot baked potato placed it in an air-tight container and put it into the fridge. The magic will happen on the inside (hot side) of the container with the hot air from the potato opposed to the outside (cold side) of the container. For this reason, in building construction, the vapor barrier on a wall is always placed on the hot side of a material.

What is the definition of the word ice?

Ice is solid water. You can put them in drinks to keep them cold, use it for ice packs (if you get a bruise or to put in your lunchbox) etc. Ice is very cold and are usually in the form of cubes but can be made in any size, shape, or form. You can make ice by putting it in an ice tray or any container without a lid and putting it in the freezer until it becomes a solid. If you live in a place where the outside temperature drops below zero Celsius or 32 Fahrenheit, water left outside will turn to ice.
