because they do their jobs. if you just mean wild cats like housecat size, then they aren't doing any harm to anything except maybe mice and birds and possibly rabbits- if you mean like mountain lions or lynx, then they should not get shot either one because they are in danger of becoming an endangered species, and two because they keep the animal populations down, such as deer and mountain goats and anything they eat. it's all balanced.
and feral doesn't necessarily mean viscious or mean either, just wild.
