A 1999 Honda Prelude VTEC may not shift out of park due to a malfunctioning brake light switch, which prevents the shift interlock system from releasing. Additionally, low Transmission Fluid, a faulty shift cable, or issues with the transmission itself could also be contributing factors. It’s essential to check these components to diagnose and resolve the issue effectively.
you have to put your foot on the break pedal, to shift out of park its a safety feature
Used cars such as the Honda Prelude may be purchased from Auto Park Burlington or Toronto Honda. They have good quality cars that usually get traded or come off lease.

Bumper mounted park lamps
This your transmission making this sound it's most likely a bad wheel bearing and can last a week, a month or even year before the transmission fully gives out.
Shift Cable
this just happened to me i have a 2001 Honda passport the problem with mine was a broken transmission cable. we just had this fixed but until we did i had to push the button on the gear shift and lift up a little and i could put the car into gear ... good luck
Couple of possibilities: The external shift linkage is out of adjustment. the "pawl" inside the transmission is bent or broken.
