Worn key or barrel, do you have a new key you can try it with ? If it still doesn't turn properly you got a worn ignition barrel that has to be replaced
Get the key number from a key barrel and order new ones through the maker.
The key needs to be coded to the new barrel, or swap the immobalizer ring from the old barrel to the new one(if using the old keys)
If you have a replacement ignition switch for the same bike. You take the retaining nut off the end of the key barrel and slide it out and you unplug it, then you plug in the new one and put the new key barrel back in and tighten the nut.
with a barrel lock key
If it is the same as the 306, which I would of thought likely, off the top of my head you get your spare key and set it to 'a' position in the ignition barrel. The new remote key you then point at the infra red receiver and hold the button down for 5-10 seconds. Hopefully then if you remove the spare key, the remote locking should then work.
no, usually the key barrel can be fitted to the new handles
Remove the ignition retaining ring. Pull the ignition barrel out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition barrel. Reverse the process to install the new ignition key tumbler.
if you take off the trim around the steering wheel and look at the ign barrel housing at the top of the housing is a very small hole you need a very small screw driver or trim pick that has about one inch of the end bent at a right angle push the end of the pick into the Small hole and press down you will feel a sprung resistance at the end of the pick push down all the way at the same time as turning the key and the barrel will spring out. pull out the barrel and look at the end and see how it is lined up with the key .take the new barrel and insert the key and line it up as the new barrel .slide the new barrel in gently until it clicks. that's it .some times when you remove the old barrel the security lock drops and you cant get the new one in in this case look down the housing and with a screwdriver lift the lock up and the slide the new barrel in .making sure you press the sprung clip in as you do so.
to remove stilo ignition barrel, look underneath the barrel. there is a square button holding the barrel in. put the key in the ignition, turn 2 notches, and press the button in with a screwdriver. Then wiggle the barrel out using the key.
If you know the key number (stamped on the original key and on a keyring tag and on the original paperwork), your local dealership will replace it. There are also specialist locksmiths who can cut a new barrel key from the original.
