If it will not shift into od but will shift into 3rd or drive then you are in the beginning stages of losing your 3-4 clutch pack. If it will only go first then second and nothing else, you have already burned up your 3-4. Rebuild is the only cure just did it myself today to a 1993. The 4L60E and the 700 r are famous for this. Most rebuilds typically last only a couple of years, the real solution is to convert it to a 4L80e which requires shortening the drive shaft and getting a wiring harness adapter and making a new cross member for support. Good luck. I love my truck but long for the old
hydromatic 350 and 400.
That would be a 4L80E automatic transmission.
It would be the 700R4
Standard or automatic transmission, they both are mounted to the transmission.
As with nearly all automatic transmission the fluid goes in through the dipstick tube.
LUCAS transfix- large bottle
If it's a 1/2 ton it will have a 4L60E automatic transmission from the factory. 3/4 Tons had a 4L80E in them.
yes 1973 to 1983 will work because this is before 1984 when wipers moved to the column in the full size trucks. it will bolt right in directly. good luck
Yes it will
the switch is on the left hand side of the transmission about half way back of the transmission. it has two wires that plug into it.
An automatic transmission to bolt up to the original 1959 6 banger would have to come from a 1962 or older chevy/GMC 6 pickup or passenger car. 1963 and newer is completely different.
It is on the side of the transmission were the shifter cable hooks to the trans.
most likely your transmission is slipping and usually is the onset of your transmission going
