Check to see if you are getting power to fans - if not could be fuse or relay --make sure A/C or defrosters are on If you are getting power then probably fans are defective
If it is anything like an Altima, one fan is for engine cooling and the other works with the air conditioning system.
The most likely culpret is a faulty radiator fan relay or a blown fuse. Fans are intended to force air through the radiator when the car is sitting still and reaches about 200 degrees F. If you turn your A/C on the fans should operate all the time. If the fans operate for A/C you may have a faulty temperature sensor.
Bad fan motor - check to see if you are getting power to the 2nd
It isn't a problem. Electric radiator fans sense the temperature of coolant and if it is above a certain threshold the fan will stay on until the temperature drops down, even if the engine is off. It's normal. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken.
Greetings, Most of the newer car have a temperature sensing switch that tells the fans when to turn on and off depending on the temperature of the water in the engine. I'll recommend to check the switch for possible shorts or a wire improperly grounded
The cooling fans on a 99 Nissan Maxima will not come on if the coolant temperature sensor is defective. The fan only comes on when the temperature passes a threshold.
Yes, when the AC is on both fans should run.
There is no fan belt, they have electric fans.
Most fans operate on an alternating current (AC) as it is the standard electrical power supply in homes and buildings. However, some fans, like those in vehicles or powered by batteries, may operate on direct current (DC).
In a Nissan 350Z, both cooling fans typically activate when the engine reaches a certain temperature to prevent overheating. However, depending on the specific conditions, such as the temperature and whether the air conditioning is on, only one fan may operate at times. It's important to ensure that both fans are functioning properly for optimal engine cooling. If there's an issue, it may require diagnostics to determine the cause.
hey there thanks for any help, just bought a nissan primera 1990, both radiator fans dont work and im told the sensor may need changing, does anyone know where i can locate it to replace?
The fan motors are no doubt shot (causing the fans to rumble). You can verify this by wiggling one or both fans (you'll feel some obvious play in the motors if they're bad). Note - do this with the engine cold - when it's warm, the fans could turn on at any time and chew on your fingers a bit). The good news is that new fans aren't all that expensive (I've seen $60-80 delivered for new ones - somewhat less for a junkyard part). Replacing them shouldn't be a problem for anyone with any mechanical skills. Check that they're working after replacement by clicking on the A/C (which turns on the fans).
