They are either shy, or they are afraid that you will "reject" them.
If you seem to like the guy, then you could try to let him know, or make things easier for him by becoming closer friends, that way he wont be afraid of telling you his feelings.
If you don't like him and really do want to reject him, then do it nicely so he wont run off and feel bad.

i do not think that you should wait. i believe that you should tell your friends now, so then they wont think that you dont trust them if you tell them later. dont think you need to come out to everyone now. just at least your friends. also, it is something that you can use to get giddy, scary, obsessed college girls to stop following you around if they like you. really sucks that most of the traits women like are much more commonly found in gay guys than straight guys
