Why won't he marry me after 4 years together and a child together?

Why should he? He is getting free sex and a live-in partner. To him, you are already living a married life and the actual legal aspect is unnessessary. If you want a committment, you need to move out and not go back to him until he puts a wedding ring on your finger. No more free sex. As per my understanding It is not necessary you should marry to each other but the thing is you should understand each other. You can have sex with any one after marriage also but you can be faithful to your partner without marriage but it only happen when you understand each other. Ya ! Marriage is a institute where you learn very much and give lot to your successor but in unhealty marriages you can only produce garbage and give same to your Kins. So try to have better undestanding with/without Marriage..............Marriage is only words if you dont understand each other

So... Ive been with my partner 4 years in June, we've been engaged before but he kicked me out and what we had booked of the wedding got cancelled, were back together now after we sorted our differences. I just don't get why he wont propose again he says it doesn't change nothing its just a piece of paper and a name change but to me it will make us a proper family (we have a nearly 3 yr old son together) and will make our relationship more special. When I've asked him about getting married he now says we cant afford it but before when we was engaged he said he wanted to do it the traditional way and have my family pay for it :/ its just not making sense, I thought 2 people get married because they love each other. Its not like I'm asking for a massive fancy due just something cheap with our family will do. After all you can divorce a person but you cant just leave a child, so its not like its a big commitment a child is more of a bigger commitment in my eyes.

He probably is still in love with his wife. He feels responsible for taking care of her if he hasn't divorced her. Has he made any attempt? Maybe it's time you moved on. If he truly cared about you, he would divorce his wife and commit to you. You have to make that decision.
