Why won't my hazard flashers stay on without holding the switch. Turn signals work fine. I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado?

Hazard switches latch mechanically (IE some mechanical part holds them in the "on" position after they have been turned on). If your's won't latch then it is most likely broken or worn out inside.

Is it possible that somebody else turned the emergency flashers on without your knowledge? And if so , over time the battery will get drained of it's power as if you were listening to the radio for a while. Just a thought .
