There are a variety of reasons that your a/c compressor wont turn on.
1) your compressor may be worn out
2) your system may have no refrigerant
3) your system may be clogged
4) your ac compressor clutch may not engage because of a cut off switch that went off
if you are not certified in ac repair i would recommend that you bring it to a service department. doing it yourself can do more damage than you may think.
A Warning to you if the Compressor is shot it will cost you close to $1000.00 if the compressor costs around $250.00 it is most likely a knock off and i would stress that you do NOT purchase this
P.S. when you bring it to the shop ask for an "A/C Performance Test" it shouldn't cost too much but they should be able to tell you exactly what is wrong
If the compressor is going out it can cause the belt to squeel as it's harder to turn the pulley when enged, or you could just need a new belt
