Your car has an automatic transmission which includes a "neutral safety switch" to prevent the car being started while the shifter is in any position except "neutral" or "park". This switch is activated by the shift lever and prevents voltage to the starter solenoid when the car is in gear (drive or reverse). This is a safety features that prevents the car from lurching ahead or backward while starting.
after starting engine with automatic transmission won't shift into reverse ?
the linkage between the trans and shifter is what i would check first. also, there is a switch that prevents the car from starting unless its in N or P
Check the motor mounts
sounds like the auto transmission has a fault
shift to nutral, then move lever to reverse
you put the gear in reverse and slowly let up the clutch until the car starts moving. then just ride the clutch so you don't kill the engine.
Do you have engine sludge? What all do you do with the car?
When we have this problem, we turn the ignition off and shift into neutral, restart the engine and it can then be shifted into drive or reverse.
2003 Honda 450 es Forman will not shift into reverse?
You replace the rear engine mount. By not replacing it, you are putting more stress on the other engine mounts and making them more likely to break. When They have broken, your engine falls and you lose it while you are driving down the highway and you wreck your car. An engine mount is easy to replace. that will restore the clearance needed for your gear shift to get back into reverse.
The engine doesn't shift.
Back into parking spaces. How with no reverse??????? Try again
