There is a little pin in the transmission that locks the transmission gear to the engine. It is likely sheared off
try changing the filter and the trans fluid
some do, but it dont do anything. cut it if you have one and you wont no the difference
yes you can bolt this trans to a 400 smallblock b ut you need to make sure that you put an attachment on your throttle linkage for the T.V. cable or the trans wont shift out of first gear
IF the speedometer is not working it is because the computer is note getting a signal from the trans. and will not tell it to shift. Try replacing the speedometer the sensor in the tail shaft of the trans.
Carb needs curb idle adjusted or rebuild.
If the trans has a load on it sometimes the shaft that goes into the park gear wont move. if on a hill get someone to push uphill while taking out of park if on flat ground rock it while trying to shift.
Hold your brake down while doing so.
Align the shift indicator orreplace it. Your problem is strictly column mechanical.
if its a manual trans it wont have one,as there is no reservoir
There are several safety mechanisms for the Chevy Corsica. if you accidently left the car out of park when you turned of the car, in some models if your lights are left on it wont let you take out the key.
Making sure the car is in park, if it still wont come out it most likely needs a new lock cylinder.
Check the transmission linkage to make sure that it is adjusted properly. Some vehicles have an indention or catch in the vehicle where the shifter handle is. Make sure that it is working properly.
