That's because you getting a wrong format. Windows Movie Maker video are not compatible with YouTube.
You should change WMV video to FLV format, it is a powerful video converter.

The first answer is incorrect. You cannot view a Windows Movie Maker video (with a MSW MM file name extension) in any media player, edit, upload, email or burn it to CD/DVD.
If you are trying to upload the project file to YouTube it won't work. What you have to do is convert the file by Publishing/Finishing it in the program first. Once the video is Published/Finished it is automatically exported in .wmvformat, which is a Standard viewing format that can easily be uploaded to YouTube or any other site.

∙ 14y agoYou should be able to upload a Windows Movie Maker video onto YouTube without difficulty. YouTube accepts standard videos formats that are produced following the Publishing/Finishing process in the program.
If you have not Published or Finished your Windows Movie Maker project it is still in .MSWMM format and can't be uploaded anywhere.
