Children go very much up and down in their development and there are times when they change and don't want to kiss and hug even when no one elses sees. Boys especially are like this. It's a part of growing up and pulling away from the parents, it's normal. Just go with it and once in awhile you can say "I really need a hug about now" and they will probably give you one. That way they also know you are there for hugging and it's OK ot ask if they change their mind. Often they don't know why they act this way and can't answer when you ask.
