Three possibilities. 1. Engine oil pressure is low due to low oil or worn engine. There is a safety to prevent the fuel pump from delivering fuel if the oil pressure is too low. It keeps you from starting the engine until the low oil pressure is remedied. 2. No electrical power to the pump either due to a blown fuse or wiring problem. 3. The fuel pump is bad.
