try unplugging the headphones and then switching it off it should work.

It depends on the iPod model. An iPod Nano should have an off/on switch on the left side on the top of the iPod.
all you have to do is switch off your ipod then turn it back on.
Switch your iPod off and leave it off for half an hour. If that doesn't work then consult a professnial from apple.
Defective ignition switch.
On your ipod, turn the hold switch on, then off, then press the center button and menu button at the same time until an apple shows up on the screen (7-15 sec.). Problem solved.

well... you have to flick the switch back to get off hold. You are really bad at taking care of iPod You shouldn't have on if you are going to break it......
