Have the head gaskets checked and intake manifold gaskets checked for leaks. The 3.4's are known for head and intake leaks!
Or a bad thermostat.

Check the EGR valve. also, make sure there are no vacuum leaks The engines mass airflow sensor(its located between the engine inlet and air filter)

I am not sure if any of the air filter componets need to be removed or not... Should't have to do this.Observe...you can do it...
