Mary Fallin is a Republican governor, and she has opposed the president's policies on a number of occasions; she was also a supporter of Mitt Romney. But her decision, along with others from her party, to skip greeting the president at the airport when he arrived in March 2012, and the decision of Republican legislators not to attend his speech was considered rude by some Oklahoma Democrats; on the other hand, given that Oklahoma is a red state, most letter-writers to newspapers applauded it, because they too opposed the president. It should be noted that in December 2012, Governor Fallin did meet with the president, along with a delegation of other governors from both parties, to discuss fiscal policies.
