Did it turn over after it stopped running??? Could be too many differant things to list. But i would start by checking for loose or rusted wires going from battery to alternator and starter. Also make sure the ground wire (usually attached to the block) is tight.
If the engine is running, then no. The alternator constantly keeps the battery charged.
Battery will be flat because spark plugs were running straight off your battery because the alternator was not charging your battery as you were driving. You can test this by jump starting your car with another car and after your car is running you should be able to disconnect your battery and car should still run off the alternator. If your car stops than your alternator is RS. Battery will be flat because spark plugs were running straight off your battery because the alternator was not charging your battery as you were driving. Your alternator is probably not keeping the battery charged while the car is running. You need a new alternator!!
If it is running on the battery only then that means the alternator is not charging the battery.
If the alternator fails, it is no longer keeping the battery charged and your engine is running on nothing but battery power. Once the battery runs down, your engine will no longer run.
It sounds like the alternator is bad. If the alternator is bad the battery will not hold charge when running
Battery keeps running down when you are driving. Your battery light should be on if the alternator is bad. Check the voltage at the battery with a digital DC volt meter set to the 20 volt scale. You should read from 13.5 to 15.5 volts with the engine running at idle. If not the alternator is suspect.
If you can get your vehicle started you can then un hook the battery while it is running and if your vehicle stays running then your alternator is good. If it stalls and dies as soon as you unhook the battery then the alternator is not good.If you can get your vehicle started you can then un hook the battery while it is running and if your vehicle stays running then your alternator is good. Alternator is defective or the battery has a dead cell and will not take a charge. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should have between 13.5-16 volts. Anything less and your alternator is bad.
its the alternator if the car is running with a battery light on. but check fuses first
If the alternator is installed incorrectly, yes, it can drain the battery.
If the engine is running and the alternator is good. If the engine is not running, no.
