Could be a burnt out fusible link. Could also be a loose connection or broken wire in your starting system.
Inside the distributor!
There is no distributor. Direct ignition, one coil per bank
its inside the distributor
Where is the ignition control module on a 1987 nissan 300zx
It's in the distributor. The whole distributor gets replaced when you nneed a new one.
you have to buy a whole distributor. coil is not sold by itself
The ignition control module is located within the distributor housing, so you need to remove the distributor, which is held in by two bolts, remember to slack off the valve cover bolts around the distributor, this facilitates the removal process, don't worry about the valve cover gasket it's an o-ring type gasket so it will reseal itself when you tighten the valve cover bolts .
The cam sensor is integral to the distributor. The distributor is not repairable and must be replaced as an assembly except distributor cap and rotor head.
under the coil
The computer maybe fubar(no good)? have you checked the plug wires distributor cap and rotor? could be the distributor its self or possably the pick up coil
the faulty part is actually located in the distributor so you need to replace the whole distributor
