Is this an push button system? Assuming you didn't accidentally engage the 4WD system, the issue is likely a faulty switch. The 2WD/4WD/4Lo button can be easily replace with another unit from a dealer ($$$$) or from a junkyard ($$). Is this a manual locking hub? I have no idea. Before you start any automotive project, get a good manual, such as Hayes or Chilton, and the required tools. Always follow the directions in the manual, especially the safety precautions. Rock on.
