, I am the author of the above question. The truck starts and idles great on the 1st start of the day. After that, when you start it up, it will immediately stall unless you give it gas. Once it is put into gear and going forward, it is perfectly fine, even at stop lights, etc. There are no check engine lights. I'm thinking maybe a fuel pump that is weak, or a sensor, but without that check engine light, I hate to throw money at a guess. Any help would be appreciated.
Zenman.
because if you stop immediately then the car will stall.
I had a 1987 Chevy Celebrity that would start and then immediately die. It turned out to be bad fuel injectors. I replaced three fuel injectors and the problem has not returned.
That would be a wing stall, or just, 'stall'. This kind of stall has nothing to do with the aircraft's engine, if it has one.
There would be a spark plug loose n it wiggled and it got back into place and started back up
Maybe a throttle positioning sensor? Is it hard to start? Does it start then stall?
AC runs on the battery. If the car is off and you run the AC, then start the car, it will stall.
Start and stall out, possibly. Not start at all, not likely.
Contaminated fuel.Fuel pump failure.
The vehicle would stall when put in gear would be the fuel pump. The fuel pump is very weak which would explain why in neutral the vehicle starts if it gear it would have to have more gas.
My girlfriends 97 was doing the same thing....it turned out to be the ignition switch. It started to stall intermittently (once every couple days)then yesterday it would not run at all unless you held the key in start position. Take a test drive and giggle the key to see if it shuts of.
I had the same problem. It would stall out after coasting down a hill. Cleaned the throttle body about six months ago. Has not stalled since then.
If it is the 7.3L diesel .I would check the crank sensor.
