Why would a Honda EU10i generator only produce 80 volts when it should be producing 240 volts?

Since 80 is exactly 1/3 of 240 I would guess it has a three phase stator and only one is being utilized. It is probably the stator or bad connections to the stator. I'm not too familiar with this exact model and what is between, if anything, the stator and 240 output. So someone else may be able to offer more assistance on the in between.
