Driver abuse.
Unfortunately, You are going to have to suspend the motor or jack it from beneath, because the starter is between the engine and a motor mount. If you are not familiar with the procedure, I would recommend getting a good shop manual or having a mechanic do it.
I would want to sat 3, because you have th left motor mount, the right motor mount and then the rear motor mount which is located pretty much in the back of motor at the bottom of the car in the center
Boosted96GSX's Response: To answer the question, the faster of what you have listed would be any MK5 or even MK6 with the 2.0 Turbo motor. The MK4 with the 1.8 Turbo is an awesome motor of its time, but if we are just talking about stock power from the factory, the 2.0T is the winner right now.
It might be a broken motor mount or transmission mount.
yes
Possible motor mount, to check this you will need two people and I highly suggest a few wheel chocks. With the hood open and a driver in the car hold the brake and put the car in drive slightly depress the gas pedal do the same in reverse if the motor is moving excessivly you have a bad motor mount. The only other thing I can think of would be something in the engine compartment is loose and all you may need to do is tighten it down.
A loose engine mount would not normally cause the engine to fall out because each car has several motor mounts. A loose mount could cause the motor to be off of balance.
I am not sure how it could possibly be changed if the motor mount is not disconnected. I would be interested in seeing how it would be done. Chilton designates this job to take 5/10ths of an hour. Its a true 96 Buick Park Ave. 3/96.K. If it was a 97 Then you would have to remove the motor mount. I cant see removing and replacing a belt having to remove the motor mount and all that entails taking that short of a time.
I would check for a broken motor mount.
i would like to know the answer for myself
broken motor mount
on the front motor mount remove lower 18mm nut loosen back lower motor mount 18mm nut jack up front part of engine then remove top bolt on frount motor mount you need a 18mm swivel scoket with a long extion remove nut then remove mount. rear would be the same way do only one side at a timeYou first have to remove the air conditioner compressor out of you way then jack up the motor, then undo the old motor mount bolts, top and bottom, then install the new mount. then put back together in reverse order.
