You probably have a bad cell in the battery. Go to a place that can check it with a hydrometer. Autozone, Checker Auto or some place like that. If you have a bad cell you need to replace the battery. It will usually get worse as the weather gets colder. You may also have something that is pulling power from the battery. Glove box, trunk, underhood, light, etc. Had the same problem--I was told to take both terminals from the battery and touch them together for a few seconds (5, I tried) and lo and behold , it worked---no more drained battery.! With the hood open, find the alarm pin switch on the right (passenger) side. On the hood there is a rubber grommet which will activate this pin switch when closing the hood. If this grommet is missing the battery will draw and will drain in several days.

Often it's an alternator diode. Check the battery first. When batteries start to go bad they can often start to discharge over a couple hours. Take it to an auto parts retailer and have them test the battery and alternator for you. I had the same problem with my '92 Windom (ES 300). you have an unknown drain on the battery. have an automotive electrical shop trace the problem. Depends on how battery is draining. If you charge it with jumpers or charging "device" and it drains quickly, like within a couple hours of use after a full charge, you may have an alternator problem. At the auto shop visit suggested above, have them check your alternator (it creates the energy that the battery stores...no energy generation, the battery then drains what you put in it with a jump or a charging device). Other problem may be bad battery, which can't hold a charge.

I do not recommend you charge any dead battery with the alternator if you can avoid it. it puts too much of a strain on the alternator and may damage it. Charge a dead battery with a battery charger.

Most likely it will not be the alternator. It sounds as though the alternator is working very well. It will be a faulty battery or a battery drain due to something left on or shorted out. Usually a boot light or glovebox light or recently fitted stereo.

I would expect that the battery is dead; however, instead of jump starting the car, it is far easier on your car's charging system to place a battery charger on it for about 6 hours then start the car.
