The air conditioner's compressor uses lots of power, typically, around 20 to 30 horsepower. In modern cars with smaller engines and lower horse power outputs, that's a lot. Think of it this way, your average 4 cylinder engine only outputs around 150 HP, if even that much. 30 HP is 20% of that power, that is a huge loss. There's a reason air conditioning uses more fuel.
If, however, your power loss seems to exceed what is described above, you may have other problems that should be diagnosed.
Also, two cheap ways to help keep your car's power up, are regular air filter and oil changes.
It is normal for a vehicle, including the Honda Odyssey, to lose some power when the air conditioning is running. This is because there are more devices running off the operation of the serpentine belt. If the vehicle stalls or shuts off, it might be a problem with the alternator or the air conditioning unit.
Does a tire with a slow leak lose air when you are driving in reverse?
It would take some serious engineering and parts scrounging and you'd lose performance. Air conditioning was an option in Buses, but it wasn't very popular because VW buses don't have very much power and air conditioning requires engine power to work. The alternative is the Thermador Swamp Cooler, which you need to see to believe so google that.
There is a TSB from Chrysler concerning this. Take the car to a dealer and have them do a update/reflash of the vehicle compter. This should correct the problem.
i would think its on.
The AC system may have a blockage causing the pump to labor the engine. A blocked orifice tube could do that.

Yes, especially with the help of the batteries. Solar energy can run an air conditioning system. It can run the entire car in fact. You could actually do it withou the batteries as there would be little point in running an air conditioning system when the sun is not out. But having only the air conditioning system powered by solar energy would still be a net advantage.
Air conditioning providers can be found everywhere. One of them is called Trane Air Solutions. They offers air conditioning supplies and installation.
Most air conditioning units have no reset button. If any do there would be no standard place for it.
The air conditioning uses up the battery power.
I would like to clear the air from my room. Where can I buy some cheap air conditioning units in the UK?
