Why would a computer shut down when several different files are selected to play in windows media player or switching between songs with windows media player?

Try to install Windows Media Player 9 if u do not have ... or re-install it again if u have it. Check the memory of your machine ... also check the Virtual Memory settings of your machine ... make sure Virtual Memory (like swap memory) is about 3 to 4 times more than your actual RAM Memory. E.g. If ur RAM is 1 GB then make the Virtual memory about 3 to 4 GB. P.S:- If u have 1 GB of RAM then U won't have these memory issues ... :) Duuuh
