Capitalism is the default system of humanity. It is based on the human nature, specifically greed and self-preservation. Rather than organise a system (such as communism or fascism) that must be kept up and controlled by selfless people to avoid corruption and degradation, capitalism is easy: just let people be people. As such, it is not really a choice.
If there were no private property rights then there could be no private businesses and that would mean that it would not be a capitalist system.
It's different from country to country. In a communist country, it's not normally accepted to want to choose your own religion. In a capitalist country it is encouraged to choose one's own religion. As a human being I would say yes, it is important to choose your own religion and strongly follow your own beliefs.
Communism is a classless stateless society based on production for use, and would have to be a worldwide system. The Bolsheviks established a state capitalist system in Russia.

China is state capitalist, not Communist (which would mean no money or classes or government).
The big problem about running a country free from Capitalism is that the people who would get rich under a Capitalist system are going to leave. As these include the most talented people, their departure will instantly impoverish the mother country. So you have to make laws to keep them in. If, however, there is an easy way to evade the laws and get out of the country, they will do so. West Berlin, being a capitalist enclave in a communist country, peovided an absurdly easy means of escape; hence the wall.
If you are referring to the Bolsheviks, they were not Marxist. The Bolsheviks set up a state capitalist system in Russia, ruled by those who controlled the state.
