Because he is living out a fantasy that boosts his ego and gives him a power trip that she is in when they are together but in reality he wants a wife and the family life. Well lets face it he wants it all. greedy selfish insecure men will do this...to make them feel good about themselves.

This married man do not know what he wanted to do, either he wants to keep his family together, and break up with his mistress. Or he wants to work his marriage and see if he can keep the mistress on the side. Either way, he is playing fire on both side.
