The Chippewa or Ojibwa tribe would walk or paddle a canoe to travel.
because every nomad that will travel through there would see each other and trade with whatever they had
Nomads moved from place to place. Nomads lived in tents and raised goats, sheep, and camels. They traveled with their herds to find food and water for their animals. They traveled in tribes, or groups of people. Tribe membership provided protection from danger and reduced competition for grazing lands.

The people of the tribe are wanderers and roam from place to place rather than establish permanent communities. I think the reasons for this are at least as practical as they are desirable. People need food and water for starters. If it isn't available, they need to search find a place where it is available. Personally, that is where I would settle down.
Your answer depends on where you start, and the mode of transit you prefer.

they used snowshoes and sled in the winter and canoes in the summer. The Iroquois traveled but it depended what time of the year it was. If it was the Winter they would travel by snowshoes and sleds. If it was the summer time they would use Canoes on the water and by foot.
