It is out of calibration maybe because the tire size has been changed or the transmission has been changed or the differential gear ratio has been changed,
Driven out of the dealership, it would be expected to have maybe 10km on it (from a quick google). I was reading a thread (link attached) where someone had 50km on their odometer. When they actually start you would expect 0, but that may not be realistic.
why would a speedometer and odometer not work on a suzuki motorcycle?
It is illegal to disconnect an odometer. Why would you want to do this?
Um, why would your odometer day done? 21, because a canoe fell out of the sky.
The odometer is broken and needs replaced.
Miles are longer than kilometers so 10 miles would be more.
The odometer has failed.
the plastic gear in the cluster that drives the odometer and the tripmeter is probly broken ..
There has been a lot written about the odometer display going blank due to a bad solder joint(s) for the display. I would suspect that this bad joint(s) has somehow put the display into this condition and would be fixed if the joints were reflowed with a small solder gun.Check out this link for an incredible amount of info on how to do this:http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/196821-odometer-blackout-problem-fixed.html
If you were standing directly at the North Pole, the only direction you could go is South. There is no farther North, and going East or West is simply spinning in a circle (and it would be ambiguous whether you would spin clockwise or counterclockwise) without actually taking a step.
The odometer on a 96 Ford Explorer is tied into the speedometer. If the speedometer is working then there is a gear problem inside of the speedometer causing the odometer to not work.
The gears in the speedometer are stripped. If the odometer is working then you have input.
