Why would a gush of grayish-blue colored water come from your tub faucet about 30 seconds after you first turn it on in the morning?

It's rust sediment from where the water has been shutoff. More information is needed such as does it come from the hot side, or cold side? If it's the hot side, it could be your anode rod on your water heater. If it's the cold side, it's rust, and the pipe would have to be replaced. Could be someone used a black iron nipple in the bathtub/shower piping.

∙ 12y agothe blue could be from over use of a joint compound used by plumbers. Have you recently had work done? If so it should go away after it is flushed out for awhile. good luck snm

I bet somewhere in the faucet the installer used a black iron nipple for the spout or shower head. The nipple rust very quickly. A few seconds of water rinses it out. The nipple will start leaking in the future.

There are many faucets that do this. There is water between the end of the faucet and the valve. You turn it off, and the water comes out of that area. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it.
