Now, if you mean the "One white foot, buy 'em, two white feet, try 'em, three white feet be on the sly, four white feet pass 'em by" then that is not a good way to pick a horse.

If you mean whether the horse has good, sound feet, An old, wise saying goes "No foot, no horse." This is perhaps the wisest thing ever said. If a horse is lame, he can't do anything but virtually eat every last dime of yours. You want a horse with good hooves, and good conformation.

So, you asked "Why would it be important to judge a horse's feet rather than the body?" It is important to judge the feet, but it's just as important to judge the rest of the body also. If the horse has poor conformation, he is more open to injuring himself, so the rest of the body is just as important as the feet.

What if the child doesn't want to live with the mother?

In divorces in Florida, the Judge is supposed to make his decision on what is in the best interest of the child. The judge would check with a social worker. If the child is a six year old, the judge would listen to the social worker who would have interviewed the child in private. Many six year old children are smart enough to give the answer they think the adult wants them to give rather than tell the way they really feel. The six year old tries to please the adults around him so he can survive. In his value system, surviving is far more important than telling the truth. An adolescent would expect the judge to listen to him. He would explain his reasons and would probably get his way.
