the American people. I would have to disagree with that statement. Most of the Colonisits were not literate at the time that the Declaration was written, so they could not read it. I would have to say that the Declaration of Independence was addressed to the Parliment and the King of GB.
When the colonies declared independence, it meant England would no longer benefit from our taxes, land, manpower or natural resources.
It wasn't. -------------- It was bad for Great Britain because it meant the colonial rebels would not give up easily and were determined to separate from the Crown, which would have dire economic consequences for Great Britain.

Britain helped Texas because Britain supported it. Britain saw it as an economic opportunity that would provide more land for growing cotton. This would be beneficial to Britain, as it would take away some of the Independence from America's cotton. At the time, a large percentage of Britain's economy was based on cotton. Another benefit for Britain is that it stopped the southward expansion of the United States.

Margaret Shippen Arnold did not want independence from Britain. She knew that if she supported the rebellion, that it would not bring her family any financial rewards. So, thereforshe supported Britain with her best interests at heart.

Abigail Adams felt that by creating the Daughters of Liberty women would be able to take a proactive approach along side their husbands in gaining independence from Great Britain. A major role that the Daughters of Liberty played in the fight for independence from Britain was to create textiles that would lessen their dependence on Great Britain.
