Try changing Transmission Fluid and filter
Start by checking the neutral safety switch. This is a switch that won't let the vehicle start if you have it in gear. If the switch goes bad it gives the symptom of not starting in park.
Yes it will unplug but it will not start if you do that.Yes it will unplug but it will not start if you do that.
make sure the choke is working
My 93 shadow took 4.5 qts. So I would say your 94 would be the same. Just to be sure, start with 4 qts and then start the car and then add the additional 1/2qt after if needed.
Maybe just a linkage adjustment Will it start in Neutral, Reverse, or Drive??
your alternator need replaced most likely or it could be your starter If the car continues to run after you jump start it and just won't start when you shut it off, try a new battery.
Timing belt may have broken
I have been struggling with mechanics and parts people on replacing neutral safety switch on 1994 dodge caravan (it won't start in "park" sometimes, but will start with gear shift sliding behind the "neutral" area - dealer parts mgr. tells me this is not the neutral safety switch at all, but the "prindle" switch -- anyone heard that one before? we will see when I give the diagram and part to my gas sta. mechanic. Hi there, new to this, so I'm just adding to your answer. Its not a 'prindle' switch, its PRND1 -park-reverse-neutral-drive-first. Besides, if it starts in neutral, it probably is the neutral safety switch. Happy fixing, and good luck!
It is the mechanism that prevents your vehicle to start out of gear, other than park or neutral.

To remove the door from a 1992 Dodge Shadow, start by disconnecting the battery to ensure safety. Next, remove any interior trim panels and weather stripping around the door. Unscrew the door hinges using the appropriate socket or wrench, and support the door as you do so. Finally, carefully lift the door off the hinges and set it aside.
