make sure you didnt put one of plug wires on the wrong plug if you did it will crank and run but it will run ruff/miss
A Ford Explorer that runs rough may be experiencing a clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter, or worn spark plugs. A proper tune-up can solve most problems associated with an engine running rough.
Check your spark plugs and fuel filter.
AC/Delco
New points, condenser, rotor, cap, plugs and wires, reset timing, fuel filter and new air filter and re-adjust the carb, it just needs a general tune-up.
You might look at the o2 sensor or the temperature sender
Check spark plugs and wires Do a compression test
At 35mph it runs rough. Also when idling it will quit running, sometimes. Does that sound like I need new spark plugs? How many miles are new plugs & wires good for?
check the coils .they might be bad I'd try plugs/wires and fuel filter first. If it backfires when revved up while running rough, probably a spark problem, plugs, wires, or coils. But could also be a fuel problem (filter or water in gas).
You should check to make sure that the electric fan is working.
if the car is running rough or if plugs are in poor condition
you need a tune up. oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc.
if it idles rough too, check your plugs, if not, check your fuel filter.
