Maybe there is a short to earth somewhere in the car so the battery is being permanently discharged.
If you have already checked the connections on the battery I would suggest testing the alternator and the battery. If the battery will not take a charge or the alternator will not give a charge you could have similar problems.
If the alternator is good and the battery does not charge, then the battery may be bad. There could be problem with the electronics. You will need to take it to a place where they sell batteries. They have equipment to check out the battery and the wiring.
It can, though it is unlikely -- the alternator and the voltage regulator would both have to be faulty. A faulty alternator will not charge a battery, though, so it may seem normal until the charge put into the battery at the store runs out.
Starting problems in a Mitsubishi Eclipse GST 1995 could be caused by a weak battery or an alternator that does not charge. You might also have gotten a bad starter when you replaced that one.
You don't. This would put a strain on the alternator and may burn a diode out. Charge it with a deep cycle battery charger.
the battery could have a dead cell, this could cause it to not charge. Have the battery tested to be sure.
It would only run as long as the battery had a sufficient charge.
Dead Battery. Are you sure your battery can maintain or hold a charge?
If it were the ignition switch, the vehicle would not start even with a jump. The battery is either not holding a charge or the alternator is not providing the charge to the battery. You can have the battery and the alternator checked (usually free of charge) at an auto parts store,
If the battey is dead it won't charge. But it sounds like the alternator is bad. If you're sure tha battery is good then it has to be alternator, wiring, connectors or switch.
If you are 100% sure the alternator is good, then either the wiring or the battery are bad. If the battery has a dead cell it will not hold a charge. Disconnect the battery cables and clean the connections. Charge the battery with a battery charger, and then connect the cables. If the battery is over 3 years old, it is more than likely bad.
Your battery is not keeping a charge, or your alternator is going out. I would have them both tested. Autozone or Oreilly.
