* People may want to become a Supervisor on WikiAnswers because they may want to help the site even more than by being a Contributor. Note that the Contributor is the heart and soul of WikiAnswers, but a Supervisor is a Contributor that has extra abilities to do more.

Supervisors' expanded power on the site comes in a few different forms. This power extends to an increased ability to edit and otherwise change answers, and to effect different kinds of repairs that a Contributor cannot do. There is the additional power and responsibility that comes with the capacity to Warn and to Block someone. Reasons to Warn or Block vary, and the Block can be applied for different lengths of time.

Supervisors generally have "extra information" and can, therefore, lend more help to a Contributor. The source of this information is probably the tenure and experience the Supervisor accumulates. And it will usually translate directly into that Supervisor's ability to make suggestions to Contributors to help them improve their work or their effectiveness here.

* Some Supervisor tasks on WikiAnswers include the following: merging similar questions; supervising the site to make sure that no one is breaking the rules; keep keep the site clean from bad words and clean up the answers, where necessary.

Would the supervisors on WikiAnswers make an exception for someone under 15 to become a supervisor?

Do supervisors on WikiAnswers get paid?

If you enjoy giving back to the community with nothing in return, becoming a supervisor on WikiAnswers would be volunteer work perfect for you! Supervisors on WikiAnswers do not get paid with cash.

Are you allowed to use WikiAnswers for spamming purposes?

No, spamming is unacceptable here on WikiAnswers. In fact, there is are group of people here called Supervisors, and their jobs is to get rid of spam on the site and block any person who violates the rules. Plus, some Supervisors become on the Vandal Patrol which is a gang of Supervisors, that look on various questions and message boards looking for spam and inappropriate language. If you like spamming sites, let me tell you, that WikiAnswers is not a good place to do it. If everyone were to create an effort, this site would be the most helpful question and reference topic site on the web.

How many advanced supervisors are there on WikiAnswers?

Other than Community Assistants and other Answers.com employees, I would estimate about 20.

Do the supervisors on WikiAnswers have their own email address?

Yes, supervisors do have their own email address.(See Related question regarding the format of the email address.) Supervisors are issued with an official answers.com email address. A supervisors email address normally consists of the supervisors username followed by @answers.com so if you were emailing me it would be RHYFOR@answers.com as an example.

How do you recategorize questions in bulk on WikiAnswers?

WikiAnswers' Supervisors have a tool called "Batch-Recategorization" in which they can select multiple questions to categorize. Unfortunately, this is not available to non-supervisors; therefore the only way to do so would be manually. If you have a lot of questions that you think should be recategorized somewhere else, feel free to email WikiAnswers @ WikiAnswers.com (remove spaces) and they will sort it out.

Who Supervises the Supervisors who possess powers other than persuasion to enforce site protocol?

There is a hierarchy of supervisors on WikiAnswers. At the top level are the Community Assistants who are employees of the Answers corporation. They have the ability to make the final decisions whether they support a supervisor or not. Contributors only become Supervisors at the discretion of Community Assistants. Also note that Supervisors have methods of enforcing site protocol other than persuasion, one of which is the ability to block accounts and IP addresses from the site.If you would like to dispute the conduct of a WikiAnswers Supervisor, please email CommunityAdvisor @ Answers.com (no spaces). Why is WikiAnswers useless?

Wikianswers is NOT useless!!! Some people attempt to make it useless by posting nonsense, spam and such, but site supervisors get that worthless stuff off the site so people looking for serious, helpful, sincere answers can get them. Oh, and those that post the stuff that would make WikiAnswers useless don't last too long on the site once our Vandal Patrol locates them.

What working conditions do Supervisors on WikiAnswers have?

Supervisors do not work at WikiAnswers as their career, it is a privilege that they have gained, for several reasons. Any contributor can become a Supervisor, this is true, but, it takes somebody with talent, who is intelligent, open-minded, and ready to do more on WikiAnswers, to become a Supervisor. Contributors wishing to become Supervisors can either send an email to WikiAnswers, or let an existing Supervisor/Mentor know, and they may help you to become a Supervisor. Being a Supervisor works the same way as a Contributor, you don't go to an office to work, you don't get paid, you can use WikiAnswers at your leisure, the only difference between a Contributor and a Supervisor, is the power, and the extra abilities Supervisors have. Supervisors are just like contributors who login from their personal PCs and use the website. The website does not provide any specific facilities for supervisors to logon to the site. However, there are extra tools available on the menus. Supervisors participate out of their own interest towards the site. One fast track to becoming a supervisor is The Initiates Program (TIP). Other programs like SPA (Special Project Assistants) will help get you there, but they may take longer. Once you are a supervisor, there are promotion pathways. Everyone starts as a probationary floating supervisor. Once you finish the required mentoring after becoming a supervisor, you will be a regular floating supervisor, unless you pick up one or more categories to supervise and become a category supervisor. Category supervisors gain an additional tool for everywhere, and other tools for the categories they supervise. So you don't lose the ability to be a floating supervisor when you become a category supervisor. There are also advanced category supervisors. You may have the opportunity to become a senior supervisor, but you have to be a category supervisor first. There are also advanced senior supervisors. Then there are 2 other ranks that volunteer supervisors will be unable obtain since they are only for Community Assistants, and they are paid employees. Functionally, they are like Advanced Senior Supervisors, but with more tools. (I may be wrong in all this because I am not a CA.) There are "minor" CAs and "major" CAs. The minor CAs may be people like interns for Answers, accountants, bookkeepers, technicians, etc. The major CAs would be those who have significant authority and are directly involved with site. From what I understand, there are about 8 different ranks, with 6 of those being open for most who are willing to work their way through the ranks.

Should you fine people on wikianswers who waste peoples time with stupid answers like kitchen so wikianswers will get money from the time waster?

No - that would be impossible to implement. WikiAnswers doesn't force users to register - and the only way to 'fine' people would be to require users to register their bank details - which would not be in keeping with the 'open' policy of this site. We supervisors work in the background tidying up this site to the best of our abilities, and we have the tools to warn or suspend users who breach the guidelines.

Who is the newest member to WikiAnswers?

There are hundreds of people who become members daily. Keeping track of the newest member would be ever-changing.

Who is a loser on WikiAnswers?

No one is a loser on WikiAnswers. Plus, it would be extremely rude to name people a loser, and would not be allowed on WikiAnswers.
