Why would the amp radio in a 1996 Suburban not be working where the two front speakers are ok but the center two and rear two are not?
According to http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/GM-Wiring.pdf the connector for the rear speakers is separate from the front speakers. If the connector for the rear speakers is loose or disconnected, the rear speakers would not work while the front ones will. The amp in the head unit (dashboard radio) powers the front door speakers. The rear door speakers and roof (pillar) speakers in the rear are powered by a second amp under the drivers seat. Either this amp is bad or is not hooked up.
How do you turn the rear speakers on in a 1997 Audi A4?
There is a relay to your power antenna that signals the Factory preamp to turn on thus sending power to your rear speakers. If you look in your trunk and the wiring to the power antenna if you short these out your speakers will come on.

it is possible that the rear channels for those speakers went bad internaly in the radio.just hook up the rear speaker cords to the front channels to see if it s on the speaker side or internal.

I know in my 1999 Audi A4 car without the bose package this was the setup. The wires are for audio, power for the amp, radio turnon signal, etc. Some of the newer audi's I believe still use this type of a setup but I do not know exactly which ones.
