I'm thinking there's a problem with the ABS system somewhere. You'll have to take it to a mechanic with the proper diagnostic hardware to fix this one.
go have your car serviced at the dealership. they can fix it.
I think you are asking about a computer. There are a couple. PCM- engine, ABS-antilock brakes, Airbag - safety restraints, Cluster, Front controller (part of under hood fuse box, runs lights)I think you are asking about a computer. There are a couple. To my knowledge it's the same problem, with different wording. Some cars just have a picture of an engine that lights up. ** added by saxtmich ** In some vehicles there are both service engine soon (ses) and service vehicle soon (svs) lights - like my 1999 Buick Regal for instance. Most of the time you will see the SES light turn on if there is a problem directly related to the engine. The SVS light turns on when you have problems related to other systems such as the traction control system or anti-lock braking system.
the engine is going out. sell the car
If the service light comes on it usually mean there is maintenance needed to be done elsewhere than the engine. Try making sure all your lights work including break lights, turn signals head lights, parking lights, etc.
Are you saying that all these lights stay on after you start the car? If so, you need to get the problems fixed that are causing the lights to stay lit. You have these problems. ABS-Anti-Lock Brake System problem. Check Engine- Emissions Controls Problem Trac- Traction control turned off Tire Pressure-Low Tire Pressure Security-?? Read your owners manual carefully.
Pull the ABS fuse located in the engine bay. This disables both traction control and ABS. The lights on the dash will stay illuminated because of the missing fuse.
Auto Zone will read your engine lights codes for FREE.
These are most likely related - when the vehicle detects certain emissions faults it will turn off the vehicle's traction control - not a safety issue. The service light is on due to an emissions control fault - need to have vehicle scanned to find the source of the error.
A person needs to pay attention to their warning lights. If a service engine light is flashing, this means that there is a problem within the engine.
sounds like a wheel speed sensor has gone out you will need ot replace the wheel bearing.
what kind of car is this?
