its a pickup truck 1999 f250
The gears in the speedometer are stripped. If the odometer is working then you have input.
No, there is no connection between losing transmission fluid and the speed odometer not working. My mother's car lost all of it's transmission fluid but the odometer still worked.
No, I had that same problem with my 1999 Dodge Ram and it did not work till i replaced the speed senser on the trany. Rick
A vehicle speed sensor is the culprit
Most likely it is the VSS. Vehicle Speed Sensor. Have it checked out at your local garage or buy a new one and do it yourself. Although a computer check would be preferable first to obtain any codes.
1999 lx "V4"?you moron, buy a service manual.
If both the odometer and the speedometer do not work it may be the speed sensor in the transmission is bad. If only the odometer does not work it is probably a bad cluster.
If the odometer has failed, does the speedometer still work? They are both driven by a cable which spins. If the speedometer is still working, than the odometer has jammed. Probably a dealer fix.
Maybe the battery ran out.
Most common cause is a failed output speed sensor. It is on the front driver side of the transmission.
There is not an individual or separate fuse for the odometer
The lights on the odometer on a 1999 Chevy Blazer might not work because of a burned out fuse. They might also not work if the lights are burned out.
