Plants will grow well with distilled water, because of the absence of sodium and heavy metals. Because of the presence of heavy metals in the hard water causes the deficiency in iron, copper and zinc. Some type of purified water are free of minerals responsible for the formation of salt deposit build ups

Does a plant grow better watered with well water distilled water or tap water?

Tap water. Distilled water contains no salts and therefore no nutrition for the plant. In reality distilled water would not be able to be absorbed by osmosis into the root system of the plant - as osmosis relies on the differences in concentration of minerals dissolved in the water to work.

distilled water kills the plant because this water is already dead water which has no minerals needed for the plant to grow. it already contains chemicals as it was being purified.

Does fresh water make plants grow faster?

Do you mean distilled water, tap water or river water? Each has benefits and disadvantages.· Tap water contains sufficient trace elements for the plant to grow fairly well, but it would eventually require supplemental fertilisation.· Distilled water contains no nutrients at all and the plant would start to show signs of deficiencies very quickly.· River water, again like tap water contains high concentrations of dissolved minerals (depending on the source) and could be a more beneficial solution long-term than the other options above.

What would happen if a plant parenchyma cell is placed in distilled water?

Plant cells will expand and becomes turgid. The rigid cellulose cell wall expands slightly only which prevents it from bursting. This occurs because osmosis takes place. There is higher water potential outside the cell than that inside of the cell sap therefore, causing water to enter. Therefore, as water flows in, the cell presses on the cell wall creating pressure on the cell wall also known as Turgor pressure. This pressure keeps the plant tissues tirgid.
