It is not disrespect that you are honoring. The reason is that God chose these two people as the vessel to bring you into being. What you are doing is honoring God and his choice.
children can't say dirty words to their mother and father because of respect and if you respect your mother and father you would show respect.

The Bible does not tell us honor our father and mother on a specific day; we are to always honor them. I would rather have my children honor me out of love and respect daily rather on a specific day because they feel it is the thing to do. Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:2, 3 As the person above notes there is a difference between honor as in respecting, and honor as in worshipping. Mothers/Fathers Day have become one of those days where it is expected that you give a gift to show your love. Why not do that everyday in different ways, rather than on just the day society dictates? Another reason we don't celebrate Mother/Father Days is due to the history of the holiday and the rituals that tend to go with it.
The commandment to honor your father and mother refers to your parents, the people who brought you into the world and raised you (in most cases. There are, of course, people who for various reasons are not raised by their parents, and such people would have less opportunity to honor their fathers and mothers). Step-parents and guardians (and older siblings) are also included in the obligation to honor, but not to the same degree as one's parents.
That would be the father-in-law and the mother-in-law.

When your mother's mother and your father's mother are sisters, then your mother and father are first cousins to each other.
That would be your father's mother. Your mother's mother is your maternal grandmother.
Your mother's father's uncle is your mother's great uncle and your great great uncle.
First honor it's laws, second find a way to serve it.
