If it gets cold enough the coolant will freeze and crack the block if there is no antifreeze.
I have used fairly strong concentrations of CLR to flush out a cooling system and clear deposits in a heater core. However I would be cautious not to leave it in the system too long because of its corrosivity and incompatibility with aluminum. I have never heard of anyone using CLR as antifreeze.
Yes. I just found out that a very very close friend just did using antifreeze.
Volkswagen or any other vehicle shouldn't use any antifreeze. If any car is using antifreeze something is wrong.
Much lower or else there would be little point in using as antifreeze
dodge highly recommends using Chrysler antifreeze and so do i. they make they're antifreeze with a chemical that prevents craked head gaskets that seems promising.
Any type of antifreeze will work in a 99 Saturn SL1. Many people recommend using Prestone Antifreeze for cars that are older than ten years.
The best way is to do a compression and/or leak down test. If it's overheating in a fairly short amount of time it's probably a bad gasket or cracked head. Using antifreeze without any visible leaks is a good indication.
No, you really should be using red ELC.
