Chipset drivers refers to your mainboard. The drivers are used for small detail items like on board video, on board sound card, on board network card, usb ports. The chipset drivers are absolutely essential as they control virtually everything. However, WinXP comes with many generic drivers and will install these during setup. Often they will do the job well enough, but I always install the manufacturer's latest drivers because they are specifically designed for the hardware.
The SM Bus (not bus) controller is also known as the System Management Bus Controller. It is part of your computer's motherboard chipset drivers. If you need to install chipset drivers, you need one that is compatible with the SM Bus controller.
There is no need to search for drivers. The graphics chipset, audio chipset and LAN are all supported by Ubuntu out of the box.
Youll need to know what chipset you have. This may not be particularly easy to do if your system is not a brand name system. If it is a brand name system, start a question like "What chipset does a (insert brand and model) computer have?" And hopefully we'll be able to answer it. If it isn't a brand name system, this is a stickier situation. The only way to get windows to tell you what chipset you have is to look at what drivers its using. Presumably if your system was using the right drivers you wouldn't be looking to install new ones, so its a bit of a catch-22. There is a program you can run which will tell you. It is called unknown device identifier. With a little know-how and a bit of luck you can use it to figure out what chipset you have. I will link to it below. Once you know what chipset youre looking for, 99% of the job is finished. Just go on Google & search for it.
You need to get drivers for your hardware if you reinstall the operating system. Go to the manufactures website and download chipset, audio, video, and peripherial drivers for your system, and install them.
Often, downloading the Chipset for your PC and mainboard will solve USB Driver problems, some times also Windows Update. If you are trying to install an external device you might need the drivers from the manufacturers website or the following DVD's. You can check devices and settings from 'Device Manager'.
You need to install the drivers before plugging in the mouse. Click on the link to your right for drivers.
It is rare to need to install specific drivers for a monitor. Most monitors support Plug n' Play, and the drivers are automatically loaded.
No. All functions of RAM memory are handled by your motherboard chipset and are thus transparent to your operating system. Therefore no drivers are required for RAM.

To install HP Deskjet D2640 in your computer, you would need some drivers which will lead you through the process. Every printer comes with a CD that has drivers or you can choose to download from the HP website.
For wireless cards that do not work out of the box, you will need to identify the wireless chipset used. You can do this by running "lspci" in a terminal, and looking for names such as "Broadcom, Realtek, Atmel, etc... Afterwards, you can install a third-party module by connecting via Ethernet and runningsudo apt-get install [package name]The package you will want to install depends on the chipset.Atmel - atmel-firmwareBroadcom - bcm43xx-fwcutter
